Mansion History

Our historic and beautiful mansion was built on a parcel of land that was purchased from the Federal Government in 1848 by William A. Woodward and was sold to Henry G. Allen in 1914. Architect Thomas Holyyoke designed the house and in 1916, The thirty-nine room Georgian Revival house was then sold to Steve and Doris Archer in 1927. Mr. Archer was the president of Archer, Daniels, Midland Company.

The St. Paul Branch of the American Association of University Women acquired the house in 1949. We have endeavored to maintain the charm and elegance of the house. We hope you cherish it as we do.
